Tea is nought but this;
First you heat the water,
Then you make the tea.
Then you drink it properly.
That is all you need to know.
Sen Rikyu (1552 - 1591)

I am the Rain

I sit alone staring through this empty window at gray people, emotionless people. “Is that me, too?”

The haze of life makes them all look the same. “Maybe that is me.”

Thank God it is raining! I am this weather. My life is gray sky, turmultuous clouds, piercing rain.

This is my world. I am home with the rain.

The story says God loved the rain. Then I must be the cursed rain of 40 days and 40 nights.

I am the propheted rain that drowned the earth. I am the acid rain that eats the land. I am the sedimented rain that pollutes rivers and lakes. I am the rain that falls into diseased water and kills.

You are the sun to me

You are the sun to me...

Where once my obsidian dreams tyranized my heart of coal, your kumquat mornings now juice my soul.

Your rays of  tenderness nourish my solarium of life, blossoming joy with jasmine and jonquil,
Flourishing tranquility with tamarind and thyme.

You are the sun to me...
You persuade my tepid hopes to burst into scintillating heaven, canapied with emerald osiers and violet vespers.

You are the warmth that charms my spirits, like a flautist in the clouds enamors the winds and reembodies to make the breeze.

Yes,  you are the sun to me!
My tangerine talisman strengthening my fortitude like forsynthia vitalize the Spring.

You are the aurora in Stygian darkness, the dazzle in daisies dance. You are the cameo of Keats and the prince in prism prayers.

You are the sunshine that emcompasses my heart as a reminder of our lemonade days,  our Navajo reservation nights, our Bible moments, and our enduring, love-filled friendship blessed by the rainbow.
