Bring joy into the life of a lonely elder:
Become a friendly visitor.
Senior Services Foundation's FRIENDLY VISITING PROGRAM, a nonprofit organization, needs volunteers to spend just one hour a week with an isolated senior in Central Alameda County (San Leandro, Castro Valley and San Lorenzo). Learn history through the stories of an elderly community member. Give back to your neighborhood by helping a senior in need through: sharing a hobby or playing a game; helping with correspondence; enjoying light gardening; or, just listening and talking. All our volunteers receive training, support and mentoring.

Don't have time to make visits in person? We also need volunteers to keep in telephone contact with seniors on our waiting list. Our next volunteer training is Saturday, June 24, 2006 beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 5pm at the Davis Street Family Resource Center, 3081 Teagarden, San Leandro. To register or learn more, please call: 510-347-4620 x180 You can also register by email: seniorservices@davisstreet.org
